Krabi’s picturesque limestone cliffs line the 150 kilometer coast line, and look absolutely amazing. They were one of the highlights of our holiday in Krabi Thailand. From Phuket it takes about 3 hours to get to Krabi by car.
The first thing we did was hire a 7 seat car to drive to Krabi. Why 7 seats? Because we met my girlfriends family in Krabi and we needed the extra room in the car for her family. On the first day we went to a floating restaurant for dinner. Sections of the restaurant were reserved for live fish swimming around enclosed areas in the river. You could order the fish you want, and they would catch it and cook it for you right on the spot. You can’t get much fresher than that!
The next day we went Island hopping, leaving from Ao Nang beach, we went to 3 islands around Krabi. The boat was an old wooden long tail rig which seemed almost UN-seaworthy but at least it got us to the islands and back. The mix of slightly drunk Indian men and Thai locals was amusing, as the Indian men paraded themselves around in underwear that was older than I am. It looked like the underwear had been passed down from generation to generation. A more beautiful site was the Islands and beaches on the tour…
On the next day we went to the Emerald Pool and hot springs waterfall. The natural beauty of this place is amazing. The rain-forest is thick and the hot springs are about 50c. You can sit in the mineral rich crystal clear water and relax as the water cascades around you.
The Emerald Pool
Next stop was the Emerald pool where we got soaked by an afternoon shower on the walking track on the way there. Once at the pool we swam there for a few hours. All I can say is WOW! It’s so nice there I didn’t want to leave. The water was bright blue and so clear you could see everything under the water. Even the little fish which bit my nipple.
